Columbia Threadneedle Prize 2016
Lewis is the Director of Mall Galleries, a leading contemporary gallery space in the heart of central London. Under his direction, the Galleries’ exhibition spaces have undergone a major transformation, with a final phase of modernisation to its Main Gallery space scheduled for completion by February 2016, in time for the next Columbia Threadneedle Prize exhibition.
After five years at the British Museum working in the Department of Egyptian Antiquities, Lewis set up and ran an art advisory company in New York. On his return to the UK he spent the following nineteen years in the investment management industry, before returning to the world of art and collecting.
A passionate advocate of contemporary figurative art, Lewis has worked closely with the exhibition’s sponsor to grow the Columbia Threadneedle Prize into one of the most prestigious and largest annual art prizes in Europe and the UK. He has chaired the panel of selectors since the inception of the Prize in 2008.
